Introducing Your New Purse Favorite

Introducing Your New Purse Favorite

July 2023

Here's my story.

My sister is getting married and it's time for her Bachelorette trip. Let the girl maintenance begin!

Nails? ✔️

Toes? ✔️

Eyebrows? ✔️

No braids because I'm gonna rock my natural curls. But since I'm planning to be in a swimsuit with coverage closely resembling that of dental floss, the most important part of this maintenance is my wax. The European Wax Center is convenient but it's also cold, anxiety inducing, quick, but still painful. But in 15 minutes or less, I'm done. She's sleek and smooth and ready for the sun.

My airport fit of choice was Gymshark Legacy leggings, a halter top, hoodie, and some Nike trainers. And if you know me, then you know that this is my choice of fit for everyday life, but today, we're traveling. DCA to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, should be no more than 5 hrs tops, but we had some connections in Texas. We kick the trip off with mimosas and the obligatory passport photo for the 'gram and then we sit. And we sit some more. And then a little more, and then uh oh… what's that smell? Kind of smells fermented, and it's coming from… between my legs. Damn.

I smell it, so I assume everyone else smells it too. Just a few hours ago I was clinking glasses with my sister in pre-celebration of all the shenanigans we're gonna get into, but now? I really need an airport family bathroom and maybe a change of clothes.

What's crazy about this is that the fermented smell is actually a good thing. It means my flora is pH balanced with the right acidity, but everybody doesn't need to know that! That's between me and my pocketbook! And I've struggled with this smell making its way beyond my panty protection for years. I've dealt with it by changing panties a few times a day, flushable wipes that give me a clean slate, and frequent trips to the bathroom to make sure that I "keep her dry." All of this work to cover something that is natural.

But natural doesn't mean that it has to be uncomfortable. Periods are natural and they are uncomfortable as HECK.

74th Hour started with that version of me on that American Airlines flight in mind. The girl who needed something to boost her confidence. Body was (and still is) tea! But other things were happening within me. I wasn't ashamed of having a healthy girlfriend down there, but this experience was overwhelming, and the thought of other people smelling me and misinterpreting it was scary and embarrassing. I needed what we're creating. Something for the girl on the go (literally going to vacation). For the girl into high quality, luxury products that won't alert the world of her issue. Keep your clinical, loud, aerosol away from me please. Instead, pass me what appears to be your ordinary travel perfume, sprays a quiet neutralizing mist that works in seconds and holds me over until we've landed and I can indulge in a self care evening.

A 5 hr travel journey started to feel like 74 hours… and yes, baby, 3 days and 2 hours is specific enough to feel LONG. That's exactly why we built your new Purse Favorite: A Muting Mist (but we're hoping you'll help us come up with a real name if you subscribe to our newsletter!). She'll be everywhere you are, for every moment you need her most. A quiet mist to neutralize intimate odor and give you the reset you need to continue through the day or night calm, confident, and collected.

Our Muting Mist was born out of real experience. Trust is our first ingredient - because when you're having a moment, you need something you can count on. Stay tuned for more updates, BTS of our formulation process and opportunities to contribute your thoughts.

Until next time

Dana
